PECWS 2025: Call for input on conversations about polar research priorities

What is your vision of polar research for the next International Polar Year (IPY)? Provide your input now to shape the next decade of polar research! The Polar Early Career World Summit (PECWS) 2025 organizers invite polar early career community members from around the world to provide their input on early career priorities.

The PECWS 2025, co-organized by the Association of Polar Early Career Scientists (APECS) and the Polar Science Early Career Community Office (PSECCO), aims to bring together early career researchers, professionals, Indigenous scholars and knowledge holders connected to the Arctic, Antarctica, and the wider cryosphere from across the world. We will have discussions to shape polar research priorities and the next IPY, strengthen polar early career networks and connections, and work to amplify voices of the polar early career community in relevant fora following the PECWS. All polar early career community members — regardless of if you are attending the PECWS or not — are encouraged to provide input through this ECR priority survey by 23 February 2025.

Input received by this deadline will be used to establish conversation themes at the PECWS,  helping us in collating early career priorities. Input received after 23 February 2025 is still welcome, but will only be integrated into the priority synthesis process following the PECWS. The outcomes of the summit will be synthesized into multiple formats to reach a broad audience and influence polar science policy and decision-making processes.
