We are seeking paper proposals for a joint workshop of the SCAR History Expert Group and the SCAR Humanities and Social Science Expert Group that will be held at Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colorado from 20-23 May 2015.
The title of the workshop will be “Antarctic Wilderness: Perspectives from History, the Humanities and the Social Sciences”. Although paper proposals dealing directly with the workshop theme are encouraged, we are interested in any proposals that examine Antarctica (and the Polar Regions more broadly) from historical, humanities, and social science perspectives. Please send abstracts of around 200 words, along with a brief one-paragraph biography to scarhistorysocialscience2015[at]hotmail.com.
The deadline for receiving abstracts will be 31 January 2015, and decisions will be made by mid-February 2015. Some travel support is available for students and independent researchers. Please contact the workshop organizers at the e-mail above with any questions, or if you would like to discuss your proposal.
