The CLIVAR/CliC/SCAR Southern Ocean Region Panel (SORP) seeks nominations for members via the open call system, closing on 14 October, 2022. Self-nominations are welcome. We particularly invite colleagues with expertise in physical drivers of the carbon cycle, ice-ocean interaction, observations of shelf processes and the deep ocean, and remote sensing. All other fields of expertise are appreciated as well.
Current panel membership and panel information is listed on the SORP membership page and SORP webpage.
The process of nominations is that they are collected by the CLIVAR office and then passed to the co-chairs to short the list. CLIVAR, CliC, and SCAR then make the final decisions on the members. Scientifically qualified nominations that support gender and geographical balance and promote opportunities for scientists and researchers from developing countries to participate in SORP activities are encouraged. Young scientists with required scientific background are also encouraged to join SORP. The initial term of service is three years, with a possible extension of two years.
For more information about panel activities and the expectations for panel members, please contact one of the panel co-chairs: Torge Martin or Elisabeth Sikes.
