Celebrate International Day of Women and Girls in Science with us

Happy International Day of Women and Girls in Science!

According to UIS (UNESCO Institute for Statistics) data, “less than 30% of the world’s researchers are women [. . .] to truly reduce the gender gap, we must go beyond the hard numbers and identify the qualitative factors that deter women from pursuing careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM)” (UIS, 2019).

The International Day of Women and Girls in Science, celebrated on 11 February, is implemented by UNESCO and UN-Women, in collaboration with institutions and civil society partners that aim to promote women and girls in science. This day is an opportunity to promote full and equal access to and participation in science for women and girls.

The SCAR EDI AG is celebrating this day by collecting photos of women working in harsh environments like the Antarctic at the SCAR Facebook and Twitter Account – have a look and share your pictures as well!
