ANT-ICON | SC-ATS SCIENCE-POLICY FELLOWS 2024 ANNOUNCED


We are pleased to announce the recipients of the 2024 SCAR Ant-ICON | SC-ATS science-policy fellowship programme for early-mid career researchers (EMCRs). The fellowship programme will fund two fellows in 2024: one to participate in the CEP/ATCM meetings in Kochi, India from 20-30 May 2024, and one to participate in the SC-CAMLR/CCAMLR meetings in Hobart, Australia from 14-18 October 2024.
The 2024 Fellows are:

Yousra Makanse, from the Cultural Geography Research Group, Wageningen University & Research, Netherlands, who will attend the CEP/ATCM meetings in Kochi, India .

Her project is entitled: “Mapping tourism diversification in Antarctica.

 

 

 

 

Noémie Friscourt, from the Institute for Marine and Antarctic Studies, Tasmania, Australia, who will attend the SC-CAMLR/CCAMLR meetings in Hobart, Australia.

Her project is entitled: Management implications of spatiotemporal variations in the trophic ecology of a highly migratory CEMP species – the Antarctic fur seal.”

The aim of the fellowship programme is to provide the opportunity for EMCRs to gain experience in the science-policy interface from participating in Antarctic policy forums through the preparation and potential submission of a science/policy paper based on their research, in collaboration with SC-ATS.
