Peder Roberts is Professor of History of Ideas at the University of Oslo. He earned a PhD in history (history of science) from Stanford University in 2010 and worked at the University of Strasbourg, KTH Royal Institute of Technology (Stockholm), and the University of Stavanger (Norway) before coming to Oslo. Peder is co-Chief Officer of the SCAR Standing Committee on Humanities and Social Sciences (SC-HASS) and sits on the board of the European Society for the History of Science, in addition to being one of the chief editors of the Cambridge Elements series in Arctic and Antarctic studies. Previously Peder led the European Research Council project Greening the Poles: Science, the Environment, and the Creation of the Modern Arctic and Arctic (2017-2022) in addition to working on a range of projects related to the history of science, natural resources, and environmental management and politics in the polar regions. His recent books include Colonialism and Antarctica: Attitudes, Logics, and Practices (co-edited with Alejandra Mancilla) and The Cambridge History of the Polar Regions (co-edited with Adrian Howkins).
