Gustavo Ramírez Buchheister

Gustavo Ramírez Buchheister received his Law Degree from Universidad de los Andes (Santiago de Chile) and is affiliated to Universidad de Magallanes (UMAG) in Punta Arenas (Chile), only 1300 Km away from Antarctica. He is currently pursuing postgraduate studies at Philipps-Universität Marburg, Germany, conducting research on legal issues both in Antarctica and the Arctic. His interests include the limitation and
exercise of sovereignty under Article IV of the Antarctic Treaty, international law of the seas, as well as environmental protection and Antarctic geopolitics.
