Application for the 2025 Dataset Development and Stewardship scheme are now open and close 28 April 2025.
AntClimNow are pleased to announce the 2025 call for the Dataset Development and Stewardship scheme. The aim of the scheme is to develop improved access and coordination of climate-related data for Antarctica that will ultimately help to improve knowledge of the trends and variability of the Antarctic climate system. A wide range of activities would be considered for funding, for example:
- technical and scientific development of the AntClimNow Antarctic Climate Indicators (ACI) project;
- bringing together disparate Antarctic climate data records to a single repository / access point;
- developing and maintaining websites to provide improved access to existing datasets;
- maintaining and/or expanding an existing Antarctic climate dataset; or
- linking environmental and climate data records.
- visualisation
- data processing
- automation of data retrieval, processing and display.
As in previous years, there will be an opportunity for more than one project to be funded. The suggested budget for applications is $3,500 USD, which would allow for two funded projects within the $7,000 USD overall budget limit. However, there is flexibility and, for example, it is possible that one application could be awarded the full $7,000 USD if it is the only application The deadline for this round is 23:59 28th April 2025 UTC.
Applications will be considered by the AntClimNow Scientific Steering Committee before the final decision on funding. The assessment will be based on the following criteria: (i) fit to AntClimNow aims, (ii) science impact, (iii) feasibility and (iv) relevance to ACIs. The amount awarded will depend both on the number and quality of the applications.
