In preparation for the 2016 SCAR Delegates Meeting in Kuala Lumpur, SCAR facilitated a review of IPICS to help support the group in their efforts and activities. Six external reviews were received which were all very positive, recognising IPICS as an effective and productive activity coordinating international ice coring. The full report on the review was provided to the Delegates Meeting and summarised as part of the Physical Sciences presentation. The Delegates then approved the extension of IPICS as a SCAR Expert Group for another 8 years (2016-2024).
