SCAR held a lively Q&A panel discussion on Wednesday 20th June on ‘Polar Change and the Future of Society’, sponsored by the journals Nature and Nature Communications, during the Polar2018 meetings in Davos. Panel Members included Jane Francis (BAS) Marcelo Leppe (INACH), Tim Naish (Vic University Wellington), Steve Rintoul (CSIRO, ACE CRC), Jane Rumble (FCO UK), Andrew Shepherd (Leeds), Jan Strugnell (James Cook), Michael White (Nature). In the same week, Nature released 11 articles on Antarctica which generated a surge of interest in the contribution of the Antarctic Ice Sheet to future sea level rise. This included a Perspective article co-authored by 9 Tinker-Muse Prize Fellows addressing how the choices we make now will affect Antarctica in the future.
