It is with sadness that we inform you that Professor Andrew Brierley of the University of St Andrews, an important member of SKEG, passed away yesterday at home with his partner and daughters by his side.
Andy was an active, distinguished scientist covering a wide range of research areas, including krill biology, bioacoustics and systems level ecology, as well as fisheries, food security and human health.
Many of you know that SKAG, the precursor of SKEG, originated from the 3rd International Krill Symposium Andy hosted at St Andrews in 2017, where the formation of SKAG was proposed.
Andy’s partner wish “please do not send a card or flowers; instead, when you feel able, please do what Andy did best: go out there and make magnificent memories.”
Let us all take a moment of silence in our own ways and reflect on the gift that he left for the international krill research community.
