It is with great pleasure that we announce the 2025 SKEG Krill Symposium, which will be held online from March 10-12, 2025. Each day will begin at 6:00 AM Central European Time (CET) and last up to three hours, depending on the number of presentations received.
This year, we’ve renamed our annual meeting from the “SKEG Workshop” to the “SKEG Symposium” to highlight krill and Southern Ocean research, encourage collaboration, and make time for discussions.
The symposium needs your input!
We want to hear about your krill related research, new ideas you would like to pitch or get feedback on, or maybe just introduce yourself to the community. You can contribute in one of three ways:
- 2-minute “speed-dating” introductions: A quick overview of yourself and your work (great for those starting out or new to SKEG).
- 5- or 10-minute research presentations: Share your findings (you choose the presentation length).
- 5- or 10-minute idea pitches: Present new ideas or concepts for feedback – This session is designed to be a safe and supportive space for brainstorming, refining concepts, and seeking advice. Participants are encouraged to share openly, and all attendees are expected to respect the collaborative nature of this session.
In addition to highlighting current research, the symposium will also include an overview of SKEG’s new structure, introducing task forces that you can join, contribute to, or propose. You can find more details about these task forces here, and we’ll share an introduction during the symposium.
How to Participate:
Register for the symposium using the form below. To submit a presentation, please register by February 21, 2025. Submissions after this deadline won’t be accepted, but you can still register as a participant.
A draft agenda is attached, and the final schedule will be shared at the end of February as it will be based on the number of submissions.
This symposium is a great chance for researchers at all career stages to connect and share their work. It is also specifically intended to support our Early Career Researchers (ECRs) and provide an opportunity for you to share your work and network with the broader community. If you have suggestions for other agenda items, please email us directly – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
