Winner Announced for SCAR Plastic-EG Infographic Competition


The SCAR Plastic-EG is excited to announce the winner of the Early Career Researchers (ECRs) infographic competition: María Josefina Jorquera Faúndez. She is a full-time student in the Master of Science in Genetics program at the Universidad Austral de Chile. Her winning infographic is titled:

 “The current state of microplastic pollution research in Antarctic biota”.

With support of the Plastic-EG infographic competition prize, Josephina was able to attend the SCAR Open Science Conference “Antarctic Science: Crossroads for a New Hope”, in Pucón, Chile from 19-23 August 2024.

The Plastic-EG steering committee was impressed by the high quality of all submissions. Recognizing the high potential of all the infographics submitted by the candidates, the PLASTIC-EG steering committee assigned the 2nd place to Tatiana Rusconi. All candidates have given permission to publish their infographics on the website.

Congratulations to Josefina, Tatiana and all participants for their remarkable efforts to advance understanding of microplastic pollution in Antarctica!
