The International Science Council (ISC) President, Peter Gluckman, and ISC Acting CEO and Science Director, Mathieu Denis, have provided an update to Members with future actions the ISC is taking in response to the conflict in Ukraine. As an affiliated body of the ISC, SCAR adheres to and supports the position of its parent organisation.

The Committee for Freedom and Responsibility in Science continues to monitor the situation, including all other concerns with freedom and responsibility in science across the globe.
You can contact the CFRS via the executive secretary, Vivi Stavrou, [email protected].
One of the concrete actions that the ISC is moving forward on is the Science in Exile campaign, with partners the World Academy of Sciences for the advancement of science in developing countries (TWAS), and the InterAcademy Partnership (IAP), to support at-risk, displaced and refugee scientists:
The Science in Exile declaration will be launched on Wednesday 20 April. We encourage you to share this action and register for the event.
In addition, and responding to ISC Members’ requests and concerns, the ISC Secretariat has created a repository of statements on the conflict from Members, ISC Affiliated Bodies, the scientific community and partners, and intergovernmental bodies. The ISC have also provided advice through this repository and via individual messages.
The repository includes statements by individual SCAR national and Union members, such as statements by the International Astronomical Union (IAU), the International Union of Geodesy and Geophysics (IUGG) and the International Union of Geological Sciences (IUGS).
