SCAR is pleased to announce the recipients of the inaugural Visiting Scholarship Scheme (previously Visiting Professor Scheme).
Scholarships have been awarded to Catherine Goyet (France) and Mahesh Badanal (India).
Catherine Goyet will visit the Federal University of Rio Grande (FURG), Brazil. She aims to enhance research collaboration with FURG on penetration of anthropogenic carbon in the Antarctic Ocean, and build strong, efficient, and up to date automated systems for the measurements of carbonate properties.
Mahesh Badanal will visit the British Antarctic Survey (BAS) UK. He aims to build scientific capacity in palaeoclimate research and a sustainable collaborative research partnership between the National Centre for Polar and Ocean Research (India), and BAS.
The Visiting Scholarship scheme is directed at scientists and academics, more than five years after completing their PhD, whose work contributes to the research objectives of SCAR. It offers them opportunity to undertake a short-term visit to another SCAR member country to provide or receive training or mentoring. The ultimate goal is to promote capacity building in the host and home countries, and to develop long-term links and partnerships, leading to advances in Antarctic research.
