The EDI group is pleased to announce the publication of SCAR Bulletin 212 on the results of the SCAR Open Science Conference 2022 demographic survey.
In 2021 SCAR established an Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Action Group (AG) with the goal to increase accessibility of SCAR resources, as well as improving representation along all axes of diversity within the Antarctic research community.
One of the initial tasks defined by the AG was to acquire demographic data from the SCAR community to understand the landscape of Antarctic research and guide the activities of the group and improve SCAR engagement. The hybrid 2022 SCAR Open Science Conference (OSC) survey provided a first opportunity for such data collection.
The survey results, representing one third of all those who registered, paint a mixed picture of OSC attendance with regards to equality, diversity and inclusion.
