2023 SCAR Fellow Alice Oates has launched a community survey seeking input on research priorities relating to disability within the Antarctic community. Alice’s project, titled “Setting an agenda for disability-focused research within Antarctic Humanities and Social Sciences”, seeks to identify priority research questions to improve our understanding of disability inclusion, and exclusion, within Antarctic research.

The survey is open to anyone whose work relates to Antarctica. You do not have to have conducted Antarctic fieldwork, be a researcher, or have a disability to participate. The survey will take 10 – 20 minutes to complete dependent upon the amount of detail you give. The survey questions focus on asking what issues the Antarctic community considers most pressing in relation to disability inclusion.
The survey is available in English, French, Portuguese, Spanish and Russian.
For more information about the survey, see Alice’s latest Fellowship blog.
