Due to requests from Arctic researchers still working in the field, the deadline for abstract submission for the International Conference “Interdisciplinary Polar Studies in Poland” has been extended to 6th October 2017.
The IPSiP conference, organized to honour the 60th Anniversary of the Polish Polar Station in Hornsund, Svalbard, Arctic, and the 40th Anniversary of the Arctowski Polish Antarctic Station, South Shetland Islands, will be held on November 17-19, 2017 in Warsaw, Poland.
Organizers: Committee on Polar Research, Polish Academy of Sciences; Institute of Geophysics, Polish Academy of Sciences – Hornsund Station operator; Institute of Biochemistry and Biophysics – Arctowski station operator; Centre for Polar Studies, Poland.
Patronages: Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Republic of Poland; Ministry of Science and Higher Education, Republic of Poland; Polish Academy of Sciences; International Arctic Science Committee (IASC); Scientific Committee on Antarctic Research (SCAR); Association of Polar Early Career Scientists (APECS).
Detailed information and registration form are available at the conference website: http://www.ipsip.pl/.
Scope of Abstracts:
We invite contributions on any aspects of research of both Arctic and Antarctic polar regions focusing on empirical, theoretical, and methodological topics, for a better understanding of the polar environment. Syntheses, reviews and case studies on the litho-, atmo-, hydro-, cryo-, and biosystem and their interactions are mostly welcome.
The following topics of sessions are suggested:
1. Climate change and polar meteorology
2. Evolution of glaciers & cryosphere and related processes
3. Lithosphere and development of geological structure
4. Geomorphic processes and freshwater hydrology
5. Polar terrestrial ecosystems
6. Physical & chemical marine processes
7. Marine ecosystems
8. Human dimension and other issues related to operation of polar platforms
9. History of polar exploration and any polar stations
10. Cross cutting issues and other topics
