The XIV International Symposium on Antarctic Earth Sciences (ISAES 2025) reunites experts worldwide to discuss the latest research on Antarctica’s geology, climate, and ecosystems. This event provides a unique platform to share discoveries, foster collaborations, and highlight Antarctica’s role in the Earth’s system. XIV ISAES 2025 Travel Award Opportunities

US-SCAR TRAVEL AWARD OPPORTUNITY
XIV SCAR International Symposium on Antarctic Earth Sciences (ISAES)
Punta Arenas, Chile
18-23 August 2025

The Scientific Committee on Antarctic Research (SCAR) International Symposium on Antarctic Earth Sciences (ISAES) will be in person from 18-23 August 2025 in Punta Arenas, Chile. ISAES is an excellent opportunity to present and discuss the most recent and important results of Antarctic research in earth sciences at an international venue. The abstract deadline is 15 May 2025.

Travel Award Opportunity:
Applications for partial travel support will be accepted from students, post-doctoral researchers and other scientists at US institutions (funding cannot be provided to anyone at a non-US institution). Preference will be given to early career investigators (students and those within 5 years of completing a PhD). Maximum support will be $2500. Funding will be provided by the National Science Foundation Office of Polar Programs grant #2013971 awarded to the University of San Francisco for US-SCAR.

Eligibility:

  • You must be enrolled as a student or employed at a US institution.
    You must present a talk or poster as the lead author at the SCAR ISAES or a related side meeting.

The deadline for applications is 27 May 2025.

International Lithosphere Program Coordinating Committee on East Antarctica Travel Award

A number of conferences in 2025 present opportunities for researchers working on Antarctic Earth Sciences and Earth-Ice Interactions. These include:

  • EGU 2025 (27 Apr – 2 May; Vienna )
  • IAGA-IASPEI (31 Aug – 5 Sept; Lisbon)
  • SCAR ISAES (18-22 August 2025; Punta Arenas)

The International Lithosphere Program Coordinating Committee on East Antarctica, working with SCAR, is happy to be able to offer a financial contribution to assist travel/participation at any conference where travel will be complete by the end of September 2025, including (but not limited to) the listed meetings. This support is primarily intended for student and Early Career Researchers, or attendees from under-represented countries. The financial support will typically range from EURO 500 to 2,000 depending on overall travel costs and the number of applications.

  • Applications should be sent by e-mail: 1 – a one-page CV, 2 – a one-page summary of your likely costs and requested funds, any other funding available or applied-for, how you’ll benefit, and the title(s) of any presentation, or other contribution to be made (for example participating in/attending side meetings).
