My research interests include systematics, biogeography and macroecology. Based on species records obtained from fieldworks and collection surveys, I study the respective roles of the environment (abiotic and biotic parameters) and Earth history (past climate and paleogeography) in the evolution and biogeography of Antarctic benthic species. The sub-Antarctic islands are the privileged geographic framework in which I study the patterns and processes of marine biodiversity dynamics. I am involved in the implementation of long-term observing systems of coastal marine habitats in the French sub-Antarctic Islands to address research and conservation issues.
Current research projects / interests:
- Development of long-term nearshore observing systems in the sub-Antarctic;
- Implementation of Wireless environmental Sensor Networks using the LoRa technology and LoRaWAN protocol;
- Using satellite remote sensing for monitoring sub-Antarctic nearshore habitats;
- Improving ecological niche models of marine benthic distribution;
- Testing biogeographic scenarios.
