Patrick Flamm

Patrick Flamm is Senior Researcher at the Peace Research Institute Frankfurt and a Research Fellow with the Earth System Governance Project. Before moving back to Germany, Patrick was Senior Lecturer in International Relations at the School of History, Philosophy, Political Science and International Relations at Te Herenga Waka – Victoria University of Wellington in Aotearoa New Zealand. His research interest is focused on the nexus between environment, peace and security in the ‘Anthropocene’. Patrick studied Political Science and International Relations at Goethe-University Frankfurt, Germany, and Korea University in Seoul, Republic of Korea, and he holds a PhD in Asian Studies from the University of Auckland in New Zealand.

- International Relations, critical geopolitics and the Antarctic Treaty System
- Security issues in Antarctica and the Southern Ocean
- Environmental security in the polar regions, including geoengineering
