Nadine Johnston
British Antarctic Survey
Nadine Johnston is a marine ecologist at the British Antarctic Survey. Her research is focused on understanding the structure and functioning of Southern Ocean ecosystems and the impacts that climate and other human stressors (such as fisheries, pollutants and tourism) are having across a range of spatial and temporal scales (from the Scotia Sea to the circumpolar ocean), together with Earth system feedbacks. This information is directed at informing conservation and management decisions for these ecosystems and improving understanding of the role of Southern Ocean ecosystems in the Earth system.
Current research projects / interests:
- Ecosystems Team (British Antarctic Survey Science Team)
- BIOPOLE (NERC LTSM programme)
- PolarRes (EU Horizon 2020 Project)
- Integrating Climate and Ecosystem Dynamics in the Southern Ocean (ICED) programme
