Mohammad Abu Al Hasan is a Bangladeshi archaeologist and heritage professional, currently serving as a Scientific Associate at the German Maritime Museum (DSM) – Leibniz Institute for Maritime History. He leads a research project on the recognition, interpretation, and protection of German Antarctic heritage. His current research explores the heritagification of polar sites, as well as evolving concepts of authenticity, integrity, and museum interpretation in the context of extreme and remote heritage.

He holds a BA and MPhil in Archaeology from Jahangirnagar University (Bangladesh), and an MA in Heritage Conservation and Site Management from BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg (Germany) and Helwan University (Egypt). He has held positions at several heritage institutions, including the International Centre for the Study of Bengal Art (Dhaka), Taka Museum (Dhaka), Egyptian Museum (Cairo), Freilandmuseum Lehde (Germany).

Since April 2025, he has been pursuing a paper-based PhD at the University of Bremen titled Protecting the Cultural and Scientific Heritage of Antarctica: Managing the Diversity, Ensuring Credibility for the Future. He is an associate member of the ICOMOS International Polar Heritage Committee and the German Society for Polar Research.

His broader interests include Antarctic expeditions and scientific history, and the cultural dynamics of human-animal relationships, particularly the role of sled dogs in exploration, South Asian Numismatics, and Scientific Exploration in the 18th and 19th century, and Aerospace Heritage.
