Naomi is a recent post-doctoral oceanographer who is driven to improve our understanding of climate change effects in the Ross Sea. Her research is largely focused on how the changing ocean eventually impacts the global thermohaline circulation as well as the stabilizing ice shelves that surround the Antarctic Ice Sheet. She’s highly motivated to go beyond traditional observational efforts and aims to contribute to safer navigation of autonomous instruments under ice.
Current research projects:
- The GLOmar Challenger Basin: a key area to study the inflow of CDW under the Ross Ice shelf and the connection of the eastern and western Ross Sea sectors (GLOB) funded by PNRA.
- PhySIcal and bioGeochemical traciNg of wATer masses at source areas and export gates in the Ross Sea and impact on the SoUtheRn OcEan (SIGNATURE) funded by PNRA.
- Marine Observatory in the Ross Sea (MORSea) funded by PNRA.
- Effect of the eaSTern inflow of water on the ROss Sea salinity field variability (ESTRO) funded by PNRA.
