Gerlien Verhaegen is a postdoctoral researcher at Japan Agency for Marine-Earth Science and Technology (JAMSTEC). Her research field includes investigating the gelatinous zooplankton species diversity, distribution, and connectivity in polar and midwater waters. Her methodologies include a combination of morphological analyses, genetic tools (population genetics and environmental DNA), as well as ecological niche modelling.
Current research projects / interests:
- polar gelatinous zooplankton species diversity, distribution, and connectivity;
- ecological niche modelling in 3D of midwater jellyfish.
