Daniella McCahey

Daniella McCahey is an Assistant Professor at Texas Tech University, where she teaches mostly on British history and the history of modern science. She received her PhD from the University of California, Irvine in 2018 for research on the history of science in the Ross and Falkland Islands Dependencies during the International Geophysical Year. More broadly, her research seeks to connect the human history of Antarctica to themes in greater world history. She is the co-author of Antarctica: A History in 100 Objects (Bloomsbury, 2022) and the author of Laboratories at the Bottom of the World (under contract with Harvard University Press). She has also conducted research on the history of Southern Ocean whaling, gender relations in Polar Regions, the history of South Georgia, and the histories of volcanology, botany, and continental drift theory in Antarctica.
