Helmholtz Institute for Functional Marine Biodiversity (HIFMB)
Arlie is a post-doc at the Helmholtz Institute for Functional Marine Biodiversity (HIFMB). She is a marine ecologist and her work focuses on the risks of introducing invasive non-native species to Antarctica. She completed her PhD at the University of Cambridge and the British Antarctic Survey, studying the potential for ships to accidentally introduce invasive non-native marine species to coastal Antarctica. Before starting her PhD, Arlie completed a Bachelor of Science (Zoology)/Diploma in Languages (German) at the University of Melbourne and a Masters of Marine and Antarctic Science at the University of Tasmania.
Current research projects / interests:
- Origins of biofouling organisms on Antarctic-going vessels,
- Antarctic ship traffic network,
- Physiological tolerances of biofouling organisms
