Alice Oates
University of Cambridge
Alice is a PhD candidate at the University of Cambridge (UK), studying the historical geographies of Halley research station, 1956 – present. Her project is an AHRC Collaborative Doctoral Project with the Royal Geographical Society (with IBG) and Royal Society. Her work primarily focuses on archival research supported by qualitative interviews. She has an MSc in Geopolitics and Security from Royal Holloway, University of London, and a professional background in communications. She is the recipient of a 2023 SCAR Fellowship for her project entitled ‘Setting an agenda for disability-focused research in Antarctic Social Sciences and Humanities’.
