Dr Aleks Terauds has a strong interest in research that informs environmental protection and management in the sub-Antarctic, Southern Ocean and Antarctica. He focuses on research that integrates strategic priorities and influences environmental policy and management at national and international levels. He currently leads the Marine Conservation and Management Program at the Australian Antarctic Division. More specific interests include the development of models to help clarify the relationship between the biotic and abiotic environments, and using these analyses to better understand both the drivers of, and threats to, Antarctic biodiversity.
