File:SOOS Logo HOR CYAN-01.png - WikipediaThe Southern Ocean Observing System (SOOS) is calling for nominations, including self-nominations, of interested individuals to serve on the leadership team of the Ross Sea Regional Working Group (RWG). The Leadership Group drives the activities and strategic oversight of the working group, and should where possible, include a representative from each of the main nations working in the region, and diversity in gender, expertise and career level. The full Terms of Participation of the Leadership Group can be found here. Leadership member terms are for 4-years with a second term possible.

The aim of the working group is to facilitate coordinated and standardized observational studies of major physical, chemical and biological variables including their drivers and interactions (regional and circumpolar). The Ross Sea Regional Working Group will assist delivery of coordinated and, where possible, standardised observations of essential variables in the Ross Sea. It also aims to contribute to an increase in quality of the science output and strengthen the awareness of the relevance of research in the Ross Sea sector of the Southern Ocean through international projects contributing to the Southern Ocean Observing System.

The Ross Sea RWG is currently led by Paola Rivaro (Italy) and Michelle LaRue (New Zealand, who is rotating off the RWG). If you are interested to nominate for the Leadership Group, please email your CV and a Letter of Interest to [email protected] until the 31st May 2024.
