The Antarctic Environments Portal is a web-based initiative that publishes peer-reviewed information on high priority issues, in the form of Information Summaries and Emerging Issues articles. The information provided is non-technical, a-political, and based on the latest, robustly reviewed science.
Established in 2012 and launched at the 38th Antarctic Treaty Consultative Meeting (ATCM) in 2015, the aim of the Portal is to facilitate the link between Antarctic science and policy. It provides policy-ready information targeted at CEP (Committee for Environmental Protection) members and the Antarctic Treaty Parties and increasingly CCAMLR parties.
It is essential to keep the Portal contributions international, therefore we depend on scientists from around the world to contribute to the information published via the Portal. We are continuously looking for articles on high-priority issues to do with Antarctica. For scientists wishing to submit an article to the Antarctic Environments Portal, please contact [email protected] with topic suggestions for pressing issues. A range of new publications have been added to the Portal recently, which we encourage researchers to take a look at in order to familiarise themselves with the style and content. We look forward to hearing from any Antarctic scientists interested in publishing via the Portal and thus contributing to the successful implementation of the Protocol on Environmental Protection.
We will be represented at the upcoming Polar2018 conference in Davos, Switzerland, and will be available for further information and discussion.
