Anaïs Rémont

Anaïs is a Doctoral researcher in geopolitics and international law at the Australian National Centre for Ocean Resource Studies at the University of Wollongong. Her research focuses on strengthening the capacity-building aspects at the interface between law and science in the Antarctic Treaty System with regards to the international ocean governance framework in the context of climate change. She analyses the synergies among the ATS, the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, the Convention on Biological Diversity, and the new BBNJ Agreement for the high seas. Her research considers the importance of educational processes to better implement legal frameworks, ensure an equitable participation in the ATS and face the upcoming environmental issues.
Anaïs holds a Master of international and European environmental Law (LL.M) degree from the Aix-Marseille University (France). She was part of the French delegation for the negotiations of the post-2020 Global Biodiversity Framework under the Convention of Biological Diversity at the French Ministry of the environment in 2022. She is part of the Securing Antarctica’s Environmental Future project, based in Australia and funded by the Australia Research Council.
