Jennifer Pickett

Jennifer Pickett is currently a post-doctoral researcher in work and organizational psychology at Vrije Universiteit Brussel, Belgium. She holds a bachelor degree in Outdoor Studies, a master in Counselling Psychology both from the Alaska Pacific University, US and a doctorate in Work and Organizational Psychology from Vrije Universiteit Brussel, Belgium and the University of Jyväskylä, Finland. Her main focus is on personality – the thoughts, feelings and behaviors – at the workplace and employee wellbeing in extreme environments.
Previous to academia, Jennifer spent two decades commercial fishing in Alaska as both captain and crew. She dabbles in creative writing and is a fisherpoet, sharing her experiences of making a living on the sea through poems and short stories. She blogs about her experiences.
