Kimberley Peters is a human geographer by training whose work focuses on the governance of non-terrestrial spaces, namely the seas and oceans. With both historic and contemporary focus her work has considered polar and temperate seas and she takes a particular interest in the mobilities of shipping and formulation and operation of routeing projects. She has published widely in this area including the book ‘Waterworlds: Human Geographies of the Ocean’ (2014, reprinted in paperback 2016). She is currently Professor of Marine Governance at the Helmholtz Institute for Functional Marine Biodiversity (HIFMB) in Germany.
