Timothy Hyde is an architectural historian and Associate Professor in the History, Theory, Criticism group of the Department of Architecture at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He is also a founding member of the Aggregate Architectural History Collaborative. His research work focuses on intersections of architecture and politics, with a particular attention to entanglements between architecture and law in the modern period. His current research project on the architectural history of Antarctica begins from questions of legal jurisdiction and the built environment. Hyde is the author of Constitutional Modernism: Architecture and Civil Society in Cuba, 1933-1959 (University of Minnesota Press, 2012), and has published articles in a number of journals, including Perspecta, The Journal of Architecture, Log, Praxis, the Journal of Architectural Education (JAE), and Thresholds. Hyde received his BA degree from Yale University, M.Arch degree from Princeton University, and PhD from Harvard University.
