Nor Akmar Abdul Aziz is a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Recreation and Ecotourism, Faculty of Forestry and Environment, Universiti Putra Malaysia. She holds a PhD in Green Space Management from the University of Copenhagen, Denmark. Her interdisciplinary research focuses on urban green spaces, recreational studies, and the public health benefits of nature-based recreation. She is also active in areas of sustainable tourism and the socio-ecological functions of green spaces, with a particular emphasis on how people interact with both natural and urban environments. She has contributed to numerous studies on community engagement, visitor experience, and ecosystem services in urban parks and protected areas. Currently, her research in Antarctic studies examines Malaysians’ knowledge, awareness, and perceptions of the Antarctic continent, aiming to enhance environmental education and public engagement with polar issues. Her work contributes to strengthening the human dimension in Malaysia’s polar research agenda and aligns with global efforts toward sustainability, climate action, and international scientific collaboration.
