Dear Colleagues,
We are glad to invite you to the Kick-off Meeting of the AGATA Scientific Research Programme of the Scientific Committee on Antarctic Research (SCAR) that will be held virtually between 26-28 of March 2025.
AGATA (Antarctic Geospace and ATmosphere reseArch) is a coordinated, worldwide effort to monitor, investigate and better understand the physics of the polar atmosphere and the impact of the Sun-Earth interactions on the polar regions. AGATA will take advantage of existing and planned instrumentation in Antarctica, but also in the Arctic and satellite-based observations, and it will aim for coordinated research efforts and data exchange. This bi-polar perspective will allow the study of significant interhemispheric asymmetries in the atmospheric response observed in the polar regions.

The kick-off-meeting will be held virtually on the following days/times:
26 March, 6-8 UTC (optimal for Asia/Oceania, 6-8 AM UTC)
27 March, 16-18 UTC (optimal for Americas, 4-6 PM UTC)
28 March, 11-13 UTC (optimal for Europe and Africa, 11 AM-1 PM UTC)
We will run three similar sessions via Zoom to accommodate for different time zones. You are welcome to join all of them if you can (particular talks will be different), but by joining only one of the sessions you will also receive all necessary information.
In the coming weeks, AGATA is starting its activities and we invite you to contribute to forming the work of AGATA.
To do so, please register your interest for the AGATA Kick-off-meeting before 15th of January 2025.
On 15th of January we will send the next steps to all registered participants.
To register, please use this online form: https://nettskjema.no/a/478104
Please note that we will add your email address to the AGATA mailing list. If you wish, you can resign from this by choosing the option in the form.
We are looking forward to seeing you at the AGATA kick-off meeting and working together with you to make AGATA a successful Scientific Research Programme of SCAR!
Happy Holidays!
Best regards,
Lucilla Alfonsi and Wojciech Miloch
