The Public Engagement with Antarctic Research Action Group (PEAR
) is currently running a global mapping project and invites your contributions:
In order to plan PEAR's future research priorities, we are conducting a global mapping survey of public engagement activities and needs in relation to the Antarctic and Southern Ocean (ASO) region.
For the purposes of this survey, we see "public engagement" as a broad term that may include:
1. Public communication - informing the public about Antarctic research
2. Public consultation - asking the public about what they think and feel about Antarctic research
3. Public participation - exchanging ideas and thoughts with the public about Antarctic research and working together on research activities
We would like to invite anyone from the Antarctic and Southern Ocean sector who is involved in public engagement to fill out this survey and are hoping that you might be able to assist us in extending the invitation to people within the sector.
If possible, we would very much appreciate it if you could distribute the information and link below, along with the information sheet
, to relevant organisations and networks you are involved with.
What does the survey involve?
The survey includes a series of questions about your organisation's engagement activities and asks for your opinion about future research needs. It will take approximately 10-15 minutes to complete and has ethics approval from the University of Tasmania H0028128. Participation is completely anonymous. Please see the attached participant information sheet for further details.
Who should take the survey?
We are inviting anyone from within the sector who have any kind of involvement in engagement activities. (It doesn't need to be your full-time job or even something that you do regularly). We encourage responses from multiple people in the same organisation.
How does someone participate?
