The Education and Outreach team of the Scott Polar Research Institute (SPRI)'s Polar Museum has developed some great cross-curriculum ideas to get children away from a computer screen. From making penguin finger puppets to planning what to pack for a polar expedition, there's a range of boredom busters and home school challenges to keep children occupied! Designed for primary school children, but adaptable for other age groups.
Objects from Antarctica
The SPRI Museum team has also developed a series of short films to explore a wide range of objects from Antarctica held in the museum collection. Each film is introduced by an expert and follows a theme: food, transport, navigation, science or clothing. The films are designed for use in a classroom with primary age (7-11 year olds) students, though also accessible to older children.
Accompanying the films are downloadable teacher packs with ideas and resources to motivate your students.
