A 6-day training workshop on AUV operation is offered to European PhD and post-graduate students (and students of all nationalities enrolled at European universities). The workshop will be held at the Robotics Lab workshop of Gothenburg University (UGOT) and Gullmar Fjord, Sweden. Course elements include a guide in using Autonomous Underwater Vehicles as a research tool, mission logistics, mission planning, scientific payload, data acquisition and post-processing of various types of sensors including hydroacoustic sensors. Theoretical course elements will be applied practically during two days when the course participants execute their planned missions in the Skagerrak Sea using the Hugin AUV 'Ran'.
The workshop is being organized within the Eurofleets+ training programme and held at the Robotics Lab workshop of Gothenburg University (UGOT) in collaboration with the Swedish Marine Robotics Centre (SMaRC) and the participation of industry (Marine Mätteknik, MMT).
The course is limited to 12 participants and is free of charge, though participants must pay their own travel, accommodation and food costs. Limited travel support is available. Application deadline is 8 July 2019.
