ICED highresThe multidisciplinary Integrating Climate and Ecosystem Dynamics in the Southern Ocean programme welcomes abstract submissions to a Session they are convening at the forthcoming IMBeR Open Science Conference in Brest, France, from 17-21 June 2019.  The abstract submission deadline is 1 December 2018.

Integrating Climate and Ecosystem Dynamics in the Southern Ocean (ICED) Session:
Managing the effects of change on Southern Ocean ecosystems: Understanding, challenges, and solutions.

The aim of the session is to reflect on the past decade of ICED science and apply insights to improve research on understanding and projecting changes in Southern Ocean ecosystems and to ensure its relevance to conservation and management decisions. The session will include a set of invited keynote talks, together with lightning presentations and posters covering the following themes:

  1. Southern Ocean species and ecosystems;
  2. Modelling and projections of ecological change;
  3. Policy implications and decision-making (with a focus on integrated understanding of natural and human systems interactions).

This session will also include an afternoon workshop: Southern Ocean ecosystems: a workshop on the marine ecosystem assessment for the region (MEASO) and its general application.
