The NSF- and NASA-sponsored WAIS Workshop is a transdisciplinary conference focused on marine ice-sheets and adjacent Earth systems, with a particular emphasis on the West Antarctic Ice Sheet. The Workshop hosts talks and posters from a diversity of fields, including glaciology, oceanography, atmospheric science, biology, data science, computer science, and engineering, in order to capture the full breadth of the marine ice-sheet system in order to constrain the past, present, and future state of West Antarctica. We also encourage researchers studying processes and geographic regions elsewhere in Antarctica and other glaciated regions of our planet. This year’s session include:

• Piecing the puzzle together: Multi-disciplinary, integrative science in West Antarctica - New research and scientific discoveries that bridge several disciplines in support of big-picture, scientific pursuits in West Antarctica, such as atmosphere-ice-ocean-bed-ecosystem interactions, linkages of surface and basal processes, modern-day connections with the paleo record, and more.
• Beyond MISI: Novel insights into Antarctic ice sheet processes - New investigations into ice sheet processes, such as basal and grounding line processes, ice shelf stability, crevasses and fracture, processes that results in large ice mass loss such as MICI, surface mass balance, firn processes, and extraordinary snow events and atmospheric rivers.
• Marine ice sheet sensitivity in the Earth system - Research that highlights and/or integrates understanding of ice sheet response to past, present, and future climate, marine, ice-dynamic and biogeochemical systems, including, but not limited to, studies of ice cores, sediment cores, geology, topography, geomorphology, and numerical models. 
• Greetings from the future: Innovations in observing and modeling techniques - New boundary conditions, empirical and modeling techniques, Operation IceBridge, ICESat-2, GRACE, GRACE-FO, NISAR, Sentinel, and data science applications for West Antarctic science.
• WAIS in the community: Civic engagement & co-production of deliverables - We are seeking contributions that provide insight on and examples of civic engagement and co-production of deliverables with people both inside and outside the confines of academic and research institutions that are mutually beneficial to all parties involved, as well as contributions that promote the development of inclusive and equitable research and learning spaces.

There will be a community health session focused on mental wellness in academic and research environments led by an expert speaker. Our goal for this session is to promote mental wellness amongst the WAIS community (and beyond) and develop supportive community structures for well-being.
