The SCAR Science Groups which help to coordinate national activities in the areas of Geoscience, Life Science and Physical Science held meetings at the Open Science Conference (OSC) in Kuala Lumpur in August 2016 and the Physical Sciences Group (PSG) has recently published the report of its meeting. The various Expert and Action Groups gave reports on their activities, and national research programmes reported on their research highlights.
A new Expert Group called Forum for Research into Ice Shelf Processes (FRISP) and an Action Group on Tropical Antarctic Teleconnections (TATE) were approved. A proposal for a new Scientific Research Programme called Radio Sciences Research on AntarctiC AtmospherE (Resource) was put forward which would combine the GRAPE (GNSS Research and Application for Polar Environment) Expert GroupGNSS Research and Application for Polar Environment) Expert Group and the SERAnt (Sun-Earth Relationships and Antarctica) Action GroupSun-Earth Relationships and Antarctica) Action Group. This proposal will be presented formally at the 2018 meeting in Davos.
